I apologize if this isn't the appropriate forum for this but it seemed like the most relevant.
Nanaimo is voting today to authorize the city to borrow $80 million to build a new arena to house a WHL team. If approved by the voters it would likely mean the Kootenay Ice would be re-located to Nanaimo within the next couple of seasons as they have been frequently rumored in the past to be on the move to the island.

I personally voted "yes" in this referendum but fully expect it to fail. There seems to be a lot of opposition to this proposal and I suspect it will be enough to defeat the proposal.
